This traditional Dojo is a really a one of a kind, it has all the qualities of a Traditional Dojo as if it was in Okinawa or Japan. Hanshi OConnor has over 60 years of training experience, being a student of Takahashi Kentsu and Ichirou Ito Senseis. The teachings are as pure as they get. Hanshis knowledge is second to none. His gentle way of teaching is exceptional. I personally travel from Queensland at least once a year to receive instruction from Hanshi OConnor and wish I lived closer so I could train at Hombu Dojo more often. If you are genuinely interested in learning a proper traditional Art with an unbroken lineage going back to the bodyguards of the Okinawa Royal Family, then contact Hanshi. You will be blown away right from the first class.

The study of this traditional martial art with such an all knowledgeable, gentle and kind sensei is a privilege to take part in. To be accepted into the dojo to train in the art together is rewarding and fulfilling and Hanshi sensei is the perfect guide to lead dedicated students in their learning. My 8 year old son and I love our training and learning about our art while progressing our grading in a kind and understanding way. We are happy to have found this dojo and will continue throughout our life of learning our art. With respect Jarrod

My son and I have been training for the last year and despite the interruptions that Covid presented we have loved every aspect of it. Hanshi’s love of the art, traditions and his students shines through every lesson. We both completed our orange belt grading and now look forward moving onto training for our Green. We are both honoured to be learning under such a great teacher. His kindness , respect and encouragement of the younger students and the patience he shows with the older (more mature) students makes for a wonderful environment in the dojo.
