First Tae Kwon Do Shelley opened in January 2024 under Instructor Yean Wei Ong, following decades teaching in Perth's western suburbs (starting at Nedlands in 1995, then Cottesloe, Subiaco, Churchlands, and other suburbs). Self-Defence Classes for Beginners

Dates: from 30 Nov -1 to 30 Nov -1

On Tuesday, 9th February, 2016, First Tae Kwon Do Nedlands will be providing free introductory self-defence classes at the John Leckie Pavilion in Nedlands. The children's class will be from 5:30-6:30 PM and the adults' class (including adolescents) will be from 6:30-7:30 PM. You will not need to bring anything; just wear a t-shirt and tracksuit pants, or other suitable general sports clothing. These introductory classes are open to anyone (aged 6 years+) who is able to participate in general group physical exercise, and is not already a member of another martial art organisation. The classes will begin with warm-up exercises, and then the majority of the time will be devoted to self-defence principles (e.g., alertness and avoidance), self-defence drills (e.g., protecting the face), and martial art exercises (e.g., hitting punching bags). Please note that places will be filled in order of registration. If all available places have been filled, you will still be most welcome to watch the classes as a spectator if there is sufficient room in the hall. To enquire or register, please send your full name, e-mail address, and telephone number to Instructor Yean Wei Ong (using the contact details included in this listing, or by postal mail to PO Box 3240, Crawley, WA 6009) by Sunday, 7th February, 2016. If you are a parent registering your child (6-17 years), you will also need to provide his/her full name and age. Please note that you will need to be present at the beginning of the class with your child. (For any participant who is not a legal adult yet, we will need to confirm his/her parent's consent in person.) Useful Self-defence Training

Exceptional skills, knowledge and strength has been gained from being a member of First Tae Kwon Do. The instructors provide engaging and supportive classes that allow students to gain confidence and be able to think quick on their feet which’ll help when encountering real life dangerous situations. Overall really helpful classes ???? and I highly recommend.

Highly Recommended Martial Arts School

First Tae Kwon Do teaches traditional martial arts with a strong emphasis on self defense, and personal development. I have been involved in this martial arts school for quite some time and have been impressed by the way people have developed physically, mentally and emotionally throughout their training. Would recommend for anyone looking to get into traditional martial arts.

Determination, persistence, resilience. These classes have allowed me to set personal goals and work in a supportive environment where instructors and students encourage and help one another. Whilst you are always presented with instruction on how to improve your current skills, no one class is the same, you are kept on your toes and can't claim to be bored!

My 3 children have trained here for many years, the many Instructors are excellent, very knowledgeable & positive in the way they teach martial arts. I highly recommend Beechboro First Taekwondo.

A session you must have done at least ones

Fantastic set up to get the maximum out of your training by having a children's session and adults session. Chief Instructor Meade is an inspirational teacher and brings great leadership with his personal set of skills. Together with his blackbelts he has a Dojang where you must have trained at least ones. You'll go back for more. Thank you for letting me (and my children) train here.

Great training for everyone

I have always found the training at this centre to be of a really high standard and I get a great workout. The instructors and assisting black belts are dynamic, helpful and inspire me to improve by giving me useful tips on how to better my technique. As a lady member it is great to have a good balance of female and male instructors with such a wealth of experience behind them.
