    Bronze Camp 2018

    Dates: from 09 Dec 2018 to 15 Dec 2018

    The Surf Bronze Camp provides an excellent opportunity to learn new skills in an activity, which not only offers personal and physical development but also an invaluable community service while having fun at the beach. Two main awards are covered during the camp, the Bronze Medallion for those aged 15 and above, and the Surf Rescue Certificate for 13 to 14 year olds. Details of the areas to be covered and examination criteria are listed in the training manual which you will receive. APPLICATIONS CLOSE: 1 week before camp, late entries are accepted on a case by case basis. Bronze - $320 ($220 for members) SRC - $250 ($170 for members) Membership is required for insurance purposes. It is an expectation that all candidates commit to at least one season of beach patrols.

    Lifesaving Summer Course

    Dates: from 24 Nov 2018 to 08 Dec 2018

    Anyone who’s 13 years old can join this course, whether they’ve been a nipper before or not, you just need to be a current financial member. Surf Rescue Certificate – SRC – 13 & 14 years old by assessment date Bronze Award – BM – 15+ by assessment date It is critical that a Life Saving Club has a healthy group of patrolling members to volunteer over the summer months. In addition the Nippers program can not operate without Water Safety members who hold their BM award. Some of the skills you will acquire are: - Basic patrolling & surf awareness skills - In water rescues skills using both rescue boards and tubes - Basic First Aid including how to bandage and treat sprains - Resuscitation and CPR – so important for everyone to learn - Rescue carries and signals - Radio and Beach management - Scenarios – these are so much fun and you’ll practice everything you’ve learnt There is a lot to get through and we understand that you may not be able to make every session – that’s OK, talk to Steven Thirlwall (Operations Manager) at the start of the course and he’ll tell you how to catch up (some areas are covered twice, some can be learnt directly from the manual and there is revision time scheduled).

    Floreat Surf Lifesaving Club is a voluntary organisation that operates lifesaving services on Floreat Beach with the aim to minimise injury and loss of life to beach users by means of qualified patrol members. We offer a junior programme's starting with Nippers ages 6 to 13 and then Cadets from14 to 17 years.     Just Add Water Swimming has been the BEST thing for my 2 sons over the past 3 years. The convenience of having Melissa come to us a the same time each week is great. She is a fantastic teacher, highly experienced, and our boys have progressed so much in such a short space of time. My husband and I highly recommend Just Add Water Swimming, and our boys look forward to their lessons each week!
