The Surf Life Saving movement in Western Australia was founded at Cottesloe Beach in 1909, in response to a number of drownings on the beach. Over the next 20 years a number of additional clubs commenced operation around the metropolitan and regional coast. Floreat Surf Lifesaving Club is a voluntary organisation that operates lifesaving services on Floreat Beach with the aim to minimise injury and loss of life to beach users by means of qualified patrol members. We offer a junior programme's starting with Nippers ages 6 to 13 and then Cadets from14 to 17 years. The Sunday morning programmes offered introduces the youth to the surf and lifesaving skills while enjoying the outdoors. The surf club season runs in the summer from October to March. Read more
