    Something for Everyone

My son has been training at the Mount Beauty Dojo for the past few years and I have watched him grow with respect and humility through learning a traditional martial art. He has developed self confidence and friendships through the school. I have also joined the class to continue my martial arts journey later in life. I consider myself to be very lucky to have an opportunity to learn from such an experienced teacher. it is also very rewarding to see the development of the all students in the class. I can highly recommend this Karate school.

extraordinary journey of heart and mind

    06-10-2015 by Beau Dalwood

I have been studying Takahashi-ha no Ryuky Shuri-Te in the Mount Beauty area for over four years now. Training has brought upon immense and vital changes within myself that allows me to tackle the uncertainties of adulthood. The teachings of the way of traditional karate-do fosters more than just physical achievement, but also the skills and confidence to strive for educational and personal excellence. This traditional karate-do has not taught me how to fight or how to use violence without cause. Instead it has guided me on how not to fight and the self-esteem to not to give in to violence. However, it has expanded the know how and the courage for if a time did call upon for my own protection or the protection of someone else that i would be fully able and have the valour for self defence. A traditional art, like this one teaches the traditions and customs of the original cultures of Japan and Okinawa. I have learnt from traditional customs and manners to language and history. This art has changed my life immeasurably and I recommend it to anyone that is fully willing to put their whole heart into this art, who are willing to change for the better.

Your comments are indeed most humbling, thank you. O'Connor Sensei

My 10 & 12yo children have attended Takahashi-ha no Ryūkyū - Shuri-Te Karate-Dosince since the beginning of the year. 10th Dan Hanshi O'Connor is gifted & patient teacher in the traditional martial arts forms. My daughter & son have gained confidence, respect & skills for lifetime & will continue to learn from his teachings. I strongly recommend this Karate-do training centre to anyone in the region (Adult or child).

Answer from Takahashi-ha no Ryukyu - Shuri -Te Karate-Do on 13-12-2016:
Thankyou for your comments, to share the traditional teachings from Okinawa/Japan, we first must have students who wish to learn. It has been a pleasure to share and teach your children. Garry Sensei

    Positive Experience

    10-10-2013 by Tan Tryhorn

I have been training in this soulful art for nearly 2 years now. For me, it has been an incredibly positive experience, and I have gained so much, both physically and emotionally in this short time. As a senior (over 18 yrs) I have the pleasure of training with the Juniors for the first hour of every class. I have watched our younger students grow also. Our classes encourage humility and respect whilst building confidence, courage and self awareness. Great skills to take into all other aspects of life. I can not recommend this school highly enough, and if you live near the Mt Beauty area, there is not a better gift you could give yourself or your child for life.

Answer from Takahashi-ha no Ryukyu - Shuri -Te Karate-Do on 13-12-2016:
