    Advanced Teen Drama

    Dates: from 24 Apr 2017 to 31 May 2019

    Advanced Youth Drama (10-17yrs) The advanced Acting course for teens, is specifically designed for those that have a passion, drive & an enthusiasm for Acting. The course is only open to those with previous experience, and all students must pass through the audition process to gain a place in this course. Auditions are held twice a year. All students must attend 80% of all classes and be prepared to make a two-term commitment. Please take time to consider your own circumstances carefully before auditioning for the course. This class is recognition of talent and dedication by the participants, but cannot be taken as a stand-alone class. All participants must make a commitment to Point Break Drama, and agree to continue in at least one other Youth acting class, at Point Break Drama to qualify.     A fun and exciting exploration into the world of drama & acting for children (7-9yrs).     As You Like It by William Shakespeare

    Point Break Drama’s production of As You Like It, will be a warm, fun & contemporary adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies with a cast of teenagers and young adults. Synopsis After a recent board of education enquiry forced the removal of Headmaster and senior staff, a new management team led by Duke Frederick have imposed a strict disciplinarian regime. In an attempt to offer an alternative, the deposed Headmaster Duke senior (and associated staff ) have set up a forest school dedicated to a more alternative teaching approach including Yoga, meditation and other creative outlets. With the change in staff at Arden Grammar causing pain and division within the student body, Rosalind & best friend Celia embark on a journey to be reunited with her Father at the forest school. Meanwhile love begins to blossom between the now banished Orlando, and Ganymede (a cross-dressing Rosalind). Will balance & power be returned to its rightful owner, and will love ultimately find a way in the face of adversity?     Point Break Drama’s encouraging tuition has allowed me to explore the art of performance through a broad a range of acting techniques that I have learned from attending their acting classes over the years. The enthusiasm from both students and teachers makes performing pieces enjoyable rather than a nerve wracking experience! I strongly recommend PBD to anyone looking to grow their skills as an actor in a fun, supportive & challenging environment. I have attended many courses with PBD which have all been fantastic.     Whether you have a shy child or an outgoing one, I believe Gemma will help them realise their creative potential as she is a true inspiration and extremely good at bringing the best out in children. Both my daughters attended drama lessons and they have both benefited, one in particular gaining a lot of confidence through Gemma’s enthusiasm. They both thoroughly enjoyed attending and are now teenagers who contribute more in group activities both in and outside school.

    My girl told me that she doesn't enjoy this club and that she'd rather meet with her friends once a week and do some skits with them because she doesn't learn or enjoy much at this club. But the club is a good way to get the kids out of the house for an hour a week! LOL!

Students are encouraged to come along to the workshop dressed in their favourite witches, wizards or Harry Potter costume. Wands will be supplied and students will be encouraged to decorate their own wand at the workshop which will be theirs to keep and take home. Places are limited.     ONE DAY WORKSHOP Myles Pollards’ 1 day Children’s Acting Class / Workshop held in Margaret River aims to give students in the South West experience and instruction in “real acting process suitable for film and television work. It is much more of a crash course template that overviews the key components of acting. It will cover off on basic objective work, staying in the moment and focusing on the other person but has a lighter more entertaining tone designed for younger students and their attention spans. The class is taken entirely by Myles. Aims: The course also aims to give students simple self-management skills that can help control nerves allowing them to explore their unique personalities (vocally and physically) to communicate effectively and with confidence. Age: The one-day acting for camera ‘introduction’ is for children between the ages of 9-13. The content will cover screen-acting fundamentals.
