Performing Arts Events for Kids

We are planning on a mid-year concert around the September holidays. This will be for our students in groups and one to one performances.

NICA's entire purpose-built campus will be featured in this year's Open House Melbourne program. Across two days, the building will be open to curious minds and lovers of architecture. Guests will have a limited group tour of the bespoke facilities, guided by NICA's circus trainers, who understand its functionality and glory better than anyone. Learn about the building's history and architecture, how the facility is utilised daily, and how building design and world-class circus arts go hand-in-hand. Following the tour, visitors can test out the facilities in a guided circus workshop. There will be two workshops to choose from for our adult participants - Tumbling and Trampoline or an Assorted Aerials workshop, using the world-class equipment to get a taste of the real experience. For kids, there will be a Family Acrobatics workshop, in which children will learn pyramids and partner balances with their guardians. Singing lessons to all ages and levels

Come and share the love of music with your child with a one-on-one session. I sing and play guitar and there's moving to music and fun. It's tailored to the age and needs of your child and it's paced so that you and your child get the maximum benefit. It's excellent for children who may be overwhelmed in a group setting, but also gets them ready for when they want or need to be in a group setting later on. There's puppets and props and singing and dancing and it's top fun!

Our 6-9yo Classes begin Aerial Arts in our downstairs Aerial room - classes begin with acrobatics and circus games warmups as a large group and then we split into our smaller group (maximum of 8 students) to explore Aerial Hammock, Aerial Silks, Trapeze and Aerial Hoop. Students progress at their own pace. Our focus of skills is: *Standing shapes in the knots on Silks/Hammocks *Going upside-down in the knots on Silks/Hammocks *Learning to climb (only 1-2m from the ground) *Hanging upside down on Trapeze/Hoop *Sitting/Standing shapes on Trapeze/Hoop Weekdays 3:40pm

Adaptive Aerial classes will introduce your child to Circus and Aerial arts. We provide a safe space for them to develop new skills, explore fun activities and gain confidence in themselves. Classes are held in our upstairs room for those who have sensory needs of less distractions, and a small group environment. Each class is tailored to the students in the room, with elements of: Balancing and Movement Acrobatics Circus skills Aerial Arts Our classes are led by Blue Card certified, Early Childhood educators who create fun games and activities which result in: ✔ Body Awareness & Control ✔ Co-ordination ✔ Spatial Awareness ✔ Motor Skills Mondays 4:50pm 6-17yo Maximum class size of 6 students. Kids Up Front run after school drama classes for children throughout the North Shore, Ryde, Inner West and Hills District in Sydney. Our after school drama lessons for junior students (Kindy to Year 2) participate in a themed lesson performed for each other each week. Our senior students (Year 3 +) develop performance skills in the first half of the year through improvisation drama games and scene work. In the second half of the year they collaborate with their teacher on a group devised piece to be performed at a real theatre. For many of our students this is the highlight of their year as they shine on stage in front of a live audience. Working together in drama means listening to each other and accepting and extending each others ideas thus helping children develop good social skills and confidence in presenting their own ideas. Developing confidence, creativity and communication skills are very important life skills whatever path in life they choose to take. Music is so much more than just playing an instrument. The music skills of listening, understanding, creating and enjoying music play a key role in a child’s development and should be experienced by all children. Using action songs, body percussion, story-telling and guided listening activities, our teacher will engage your child in a musical world that can lead to a life enriched by music. Term starts Saturday 1st August or Wednesday 5th August, and will run for 8 weeks. Open to students aged 3-10, the Kids at the Con classes serve as a fantastic introduction to music class where students are engaged and are free to explore their musical creativity in a welcoming and non-competitive environment. No prior experience necessary!
