The School of Percussive Arts is a dynamic music school that teaches drumming, musicianship, piano singing, and performance skills. The Schools director is drummer Phillip Campbell.

Phillip has vast playing experience playing drums and keyboards with some of the biggest names in Australian music, including the Multi Aria award-winning band 1927 ( Phillip plays on the self-titled album 1927). Guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel ( Hear Phillip play on the album Determination). Jon English band, Marcia Hinds Band, Sydney's urban legend Jackie Orszaczky's outfits Jump Back Jack and Industrial Accident. Jazz Fusion bassist Steve Hunter. The country music legend James Blundell, The 80's pop sensations Margaret Urlich and Electric Pandas( Album Point Blank), Tracey Campbell Trio ( Album Sunshine Embrace), to name a few!

The school offers a progressive curriculum inspired by the latest teaching methods and encourages students to challenge their abilities and go beyond individual musical boundaries.

The acclaimed Helen Hobbs Jordan modern musicianship series that includes keyboard harmony, intervals, meter and rhythm, pitches, and scales is also available as a part of our curriculum.
The modern musicianship series was developed in New York and is an excellent method to fast-track skills and understand the fundamentals of music.

Drum lessons cover all styles, Drumcorps classes are available, and opportunities exist for students to become a part of the Waratah Drumcorps performance group.
The School at The Historic Watch House Rokeby is conveniently located 15 mins from the CBD. Parents and students can wait safely for lessons or family pick up within the garden area.

Phillip encourages exam syllabus through the AMEB for students wishing to gain formal qualifications.

    School workshop
    Phil’s lesson kept the children engrossed the entire time because it was interesting, inspiring and made up of fun activities. It was wonderful for my students to have the opportunity to learn from a percussion specialist. Phil really reinforced the importance of technique, practise and musicianship.
