Subiaco First Tae Kwon Do provides traditional martial art and practical self-defence training to children (6 years+), adolescents, and adults. Our members train twice per week, on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Palms Community Centre (cnr Nicholson and Rokeby Road), Subiaco. Our students who have trained and been graded to a minimum ranking are able to attend additional training at other First Tae Kwon Do (FTKD) venues throughout the week, at no extra cost. Note though that this additional training is on top of the two nights training, and to be approved by the base Branch Instructor prior. The invitation is only extended to students when they have shown comprehension of minimum standards for basic techniques, able to display understanding of FTKD etiquette in terms of respect, protocol and rules, and able to train with care towards other instructors and students of other branches (young or old). We provide a non-contact style of training, and do not participate in martial art competitions such as tournaments. Our training focuses on both personal development and being realistically prepared for self-defence situations, with the clear recognition that avoidance (where possible) is a better option than being exposed or involved in a violent situation. All of our instructors hold Working With Children cards.
Our members include schoolchildren, university students, and business professionals who understand the importance of honing their situational awareness and training to be mentally and physically ready for self-defence action, if the need should arise.
We invite prospective members to come along to a class to see/experience our training via a no-obligation introductory class. Please note that any prospective members who are under 18 years will need to be accompanied by at least one parent/official guardian; as we are unable to allow anyone under 18 years to participate unless we have confirmed parental consent in person.

    Diversity and Inclusivity
    Our children enjoy training at the Subiaco branch that is run by a unique team in the martial arts space in Perth WA. The mother and daughter team are great mentors in empowering males and females from 5 to 65 in self-defense training. The training vibe is positive and energetic, and the diversity of culture amongst parents/guardians encourages many to stay for an hour to socialise and network. Both Instructors are positive and nurturing, in setting good standards for students via precision in good techniques.

    Thr branch training exudes passion and drive in teaching martial arts for self defence, with the students gaining the bonus of fitness and good self esteem which help all students in their relationships at home, in school/university, at work or in social settings. Invaluable benefits gained from training by children and adults.
