At Esprit Martial Arts in Marrickville, our students come from all over the inner west including Marrickville, Dulwich Hill, Enmore, Stanmore, Newtown, Ashfield, Rockdale, Petersham, Wolli Creek, Hurstone Park, Earlwood, Erskineville and Camperdown.

Our self defence and martial arts classes are enjoyable and safe and you will learn from qualified trainers with years of experience. We teach Northstar Ju Jitsu, a unique set of self-defence programs that integrates traditional elements of Ju Jitsu, Taekwondo, Judo and kick boxing.

From the very first free lesson our students take away helpful self-defence moves and tips. In three months you’ll be fitter and have learnt basic self-defence.

    My son luke looks forward to his class on Thursdays he keeps telling me he loves this Martial Arts place. John is a fantastic Master and is very patient with the children and this is very important for Luke. It has taken me a while to find the right place and now we have and we are staying put. Thanks John for all the great skills you are teaching our children.

    A professional refreshing change
    My son Harry has been attending Esprit Martial arts for the last 5 months. After more than a year at a different school I found Esprit a refreshing change. The classes are a good size with enough teachers on hand to ensure that each child gets the right amount attention. This means that they are consistently developing strong and effective techniques. Harry has responded so well to the classes and was delighted to recently achieve his yellow belt. Beyond the Karate however the children are learning discipline and more effective listening skills which are incredibly valuable to them on so many levels. I’m delighted with his progress.

    A Life Changing Experience
    My son is loving learning Jiu Jitsu with John, it is a fun, supportive atmosphere that teaches focus, strength along with self-defence. One of the first things that he was taught was how to fall safely, protecting the head. This skill came in handy, when he fell off a wall he was climbing onto a hard concrete surface. He tucked in his head, as John had taught him avoiding, what could have been, a serious head injury and walked away with only a few grazes and bruises. I would recommend Esprit Martial Arts to any one!
