Description

Carss Cottage is a beautiful old sandstone Cottage built by William Carss between 1863 and 1865 for his retirement.
It is now a Museum displaying and preserving historical items from the late 1800's early 1900's, particularly local history and is run by Kogarah Historical Society. The Museum opens every Sunday from 1pm to 5pm, in summer months, 1pm-4pm in winter and at other times for booked tours. Entry on Sundays is $5 for adults, accompanying children are free, students $2.00.
Tour groups pay $5.00 (carers/drivers free) and are offered a talk on the Carss family, explore the rooms in the Museum and have an optional guided walk around Carss Park. We also offer a Tea and Talk for small groups (under 10 people) when we bring out our best china and supply morning or afternoon tea (all home cooked) as well as the tour. This costs $15 per person. Visitors to the website can now also access Carss Cottage Catalogue of items. Books available on local history, can be purchased at the Museum or through the website using PayPal.
