Description

Scouts Australia operates a voluntary, non-political educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles, and method conceived by the Founder, Lord Baden-Powell.

The Mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.

Ormeau Scout Group has youth sections available for 5 to 18 year olds:
- Joeys - 5-8 year olds
- Cubs - 8-11 year olds
- Scouts - 11-15 year olds
- Venturers - 15-18 year olds

Regular Scout Section nights occur during school terms all year with events and activities taking place on weekends and over the school holidays (where applicable to the Section). Our Cubs run each Tuesday night from 6:30pm to 8pm. On Wednesday nights we have the other three Sections with Joeys from 5:45-6:45pm and Scouts/Venturers from 7-9pm.

All youth Sections are supported by adult Leader volunteers plus an Executive Committee. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to volunteer with a range of benefits provided, including:
- Free training (eg adventurous training (archery, 4WD, water rescue, abseiling, etc), first aid, etc)
- Discounts off term fees for your children who attend once a certain training level has been achieved
- Being part of an awesome Group of people.

Term Discounts

Leader volunteers, once they receive their Certificate of Proficiency, are provided with a 50% discount on term fees for any of their youth members that are part of the Group.

Leaders also receive free training, the Group pays for it, such as First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Adventurous Activities.

Certificates and Diplomas can be provided free of charge through the Scouts Australia Institute of Training (SAIT) using recognition of prior learning.
