Description

Lilydale Bowmen Inc, provides a field archery range that caters for many forms field archery. The club was started in 1977 by a handful of archery enthuses and today caters for an average of 150 members. Ever since the early days the club has been allowing members of the public to experience the pleasure of field archery through introductory courses'. These introductory courses are open to people from all age brackets (8 to 88) and all family members, there are run over 4 weeks with the club providing all the required equipment and qualified coach's. With modern equipment there is no need to be a body builder regardless of the bow type you wish to learn - Longbow, Recurve or Compound. All members have full access to the 3 field ranges and the club runs events twice a month. A number of members compete at other clubs and been very successfully at state, national and international/world championships. A number of members that started through the intro program have gone on to set state, national and wold records in the process of winning championships.
The club provide for ABA (Australia Bowhunters Association) , 3D (Full life size 3 Dimensional Animal Targets) , IFAA (International Field Archery Association) and 18 meter indoor as well as bush skills including navigation.
