School Holiday Table Tennis for Kids

Price details: The first four Program sessions are free; a small $5 fee will apply to the remaining four sessions. So only $5 per participant for the whole program! There is ample car parking on site free-of-cost.

Age group accepted: 8-10 year olds, 10-12 year olds

The Illawarra Sports Stadium (ISS) and Illawarra District Table Tennis Association (IDTTA) have organised a learn-to-play Table Tennis for Kids for the coming September/October school vacation. The Program has been developed by the IDTTA. The Program will consist of 8 x 1 hour sessions delivered as 1 hour per day/4 days per week/8 sessions total over the 2 week holiday period. All equipment is provided. Participants will be trained by Table Tennis Australia accredited coaches.

*** TIMES ***
9.30am to 10.30am. Where registrations exceed program participation limits (30 children), additional times will be offered at 10.30am to 11.30am.

*** PROGRAM LESSONS (1 hour sessions) ***
Day 1: introduction to the game, the grip and forehand topspin (attack) followed by rec games.
Day 2: introduction to the serve, followed by rec games.
Day 3: reinforce the grip and forehand topspin and introduce backhand topspin, then rec games.
Day 4: reinforce the grip, forehand and backhand topspin; introduce forehand backspin (defence), then rec games.
Day 5: reinforce grip, forehand/backhand topspin, forehand backspin, introduce backhand topspin (defence), then rec games.
Day 6: serve and rally in pairs followed by rec games.
Day 7: introduction to doubles followed by rec games.
Day 8: singles round robin.
