Hohnes Road Playhouse is a not-for-profit family support and childcare community that has been operating for 48 years. It is ideal for first-time parents, those new to the Eltham area or those seeking an opportunity for social interaction (for both parent and child).

Most sessions are facilitated by a qualified childcare educator, and are a great way to meet local families and share the journey of parenthood.

We offer numerous program offerings including:
* Share the Care (educator-led playgroup 0-5yo)
* Stay & Play (parent-led playgroup 0-5yo)
* Pre-School Drop & Go (scheduled occasional care 3-5yo); and
* Children’s Party Venue Hire (host your own child’s party).

Sessions are held every weekday at various times, and the venue can be hired - both by members and the public - during school and public holidays and weekends.

Share the Care sessions are our Playgroup with a difference. The care of your child is shared between yourself, a qualified childcare educator and other parents. If you enrol in a second session in a week, you can take a 'Time Out' on one session per week and leave your child in the care of the educator and other parents.

This model is unique and highly sought after. Both you and your child will soon recognise the benefits!

Pre-School Drop and Go is an informal pre-school readiness program - a cross between pre-school and occasional care.

Stay and Play is a community, parent-led playgroup. Our difference is that our constantly changing playspace is planned and set-up by qualified educators - no need for you to set up or pack up any toys.

    I was seeking a supportive play environment for my son and I, having dealt with some difficult health issues, and we were warmly welcomed and included at Hohnes Rd Playhouse. It has meant a lot to me to be able to talk to other parents about the challenges of parenting and share in the joys of Quill’s development who now loves to crawl about, with others cheering him on!     I started coming to Playhouse when my little boy was 18 months old and I was expecting my second child. I felt at home and relaxed, when I had my new baby, my son could play happily while I could comfortably feed my baby. So it was great for all of us. That was over 6 years ago and now I attend with my third child who loves it! I have mad many friends and connections at Playhouse. There isn't anywhere else like it. Alison Quinn (Reciprocal Care)

    I would like to commend Hohnes Road on their excellent over 3 program. My son has flourished under the experienced childcare professionals. He is a calmer and more confident boy.     Harry has had a wonderful time in the 3&4 year old program over the past year and a half. A homely, happy environment, small groups of children, and fantastic caring staff have allowed Harry to have a fun and creative time in a very special place.
