    No coach or manager

    23-03-2016 by Disappointed U11 family 2016 season

Disappointing approach to running a soccer club - start the season with no coach or manager with numbers dwindling week by week in certain teams with no solution being offered by the club other than parents pay extra above fees. Doesn't feel that the children are being catered for first and foremost

Answer from Mt Eliza Soccer Club on 02-06-2016:
Thanks for your review. The start of the season is unfortunately an often difficult time. As a community club, all of our coaches and team managers are volunteers. They are not locked into a contract of any sort and as they all have paid jobs and families their circumstances do often change. To have a team without a coach and team manager at the beginning of the season is obviously not ideal and not something that we would want to happen often - however due to the nature of the 'business' it is something that can and has happened in the past. The reason we all volunteer is so as we can provide an environment for children to get outside and participate in active team sport. We have a duty of care and responsibility to provide the best possible environment for this but we cannot do this well without volunteers. We have recently taken on a review of the club's complete operations with the aim to improve areas such as volunteer management and coach and player development. We hope to improve our processes and discuss with other clubs, their methods and processes and understand how we can get better at what we do. The good news is that we are now 6 weeks into the season and all teams are running successfully with coaches and team managers.
