Wallarah National Park conserves coastal land south of Caves Beach, just east of Lake Macquarie. The park is in three sections, on the east and west of the Pacific Highway. It's about 30 kilometres south of Newcastle and 120 kilometres north of Sydney. There are plenty of things to do in the park, including walking, fishing, swimming, surfing. Highlights: Sandstone outcrops and scenic outlooks feature in a rugged landscape harbouring rainforests, snow gums and large grass tree stands. Activities: The Washpools picnic and camping area has wheelchair access and is a great place to bring the family. In North Wyrrabalong there's a lookout at the end of Pelican Beach Rd with a view over Pelican Beach. Along the Red Gum Trail you will find viewing platforms offering wide views of the mountains and Tuggerah Lake. Today it conserves a diversity of plants and animals including a number of threatened species and endangered ecological communities.
