The park has sandy surf beaches, rugged bays, rock platforms, quiet campgrounds, sheltered inlets and historic lighthouses. Its heathlands and forests are home to a variety of plants and animals, including threatened species such as the ground parrot, eastern bristlebird, hooded plover, yellow-bellied glider and long-nosed potoroo.In this park, vehicle entry fees are $7 per vehicle per day. Throughout the park there are self-registration locations to pay the fee.
The coastal walking track is nearby, as well as places for fishing, swimming, snorkelling and diving. You'll need to bring your own firewood to this camping ground. Minnamurra Rainforest Centre lies within Budderoo National Park and is 15 km west of Kiama on Tourist Drive 9. It has a network of boardwalks and paved tracks, which can take you through the rainforest to Minnamurra Falls. The visitor centre provides information about the area and surrounding national parks, and also has a shop. The Lyrebird Cafe offers light meals and refreshments, and there are picnic and barbecue facilities available.
The heathland plateau of Barren Grounds is loved by both walkers and birdwatchers - particularly in spring, when it is a mass of wildflowers. A range of walks offer magnificent views of the Illawarra coastline and surrounding countryside. The reserve is between Robertson and Kiama, on the Jamberoo Pass Road. It's 16km south-east of Robertson and 8km east of the Carrington Falls turn-off.
The park is a good place for a family day out. From the end of Beach Road there is a walkway to a viewing platform and the beach. Access is easy for all ages and for the disabled. Close by there is a large grassy picnic area with barbecues in a pleasant bangalay forest setting. From the picnic area there are walking tracks through the forest.
