The Melbourne Magic Festival

After disappearing into quarantine in 2020, the Melbourne Magic Festival will reappear in a puff of smoke in 2021 with a new home at Arrow on Swanston in Melbourne and venues around Melbourne. Running from 28 June to 10 July, the festival features 300 magic shows from 35 magicians from around Australia and the world.

“The magic community is exhilarated to be a part of the return of live theatre to Melbourne,” said artistic director Tim Ellis. “As amazing as magic on Zoom or social media is, nothing beats being in the room when a master magician works their magic. This year we’ve got America’s Got Talent finalist Dom Chambers, author Nicholas J. Johnson building an entire show out of recycled materials, and a recreation of a Victorian séance from Lawrence Leung and Professor Richard Wiseman.”

Now in its 13th year the Melbourne Magic Festival has showcased the best magicians from around the world as well as providing a springboard for young magicians. “The support of Melbourne audiences in the past has been just as extraordinary as the tricks they come to watch.” said Ellis.
