Experience our amazing night sky through our wide range of telescopes at our sky viewing nights. Our Volunteers will take you on a grand tour of the Southern Hemisphere’s sky with a wide range of targets including Nebulas, planets, dying stars, and enormous star clusters. You will also be able to browse our museum and see historical instruments, our meteorite exhibit, astrophotographs & artwork, and admire the beauty of the Atlas Coelestis, the first Star Atlas ever printed in 1729 from the work of John Flamsteed, the First Astronomer Royal at the Greenwich Observatory in Great Britain. A fantastic camp available to our Scouting youth aged between 10.5 years and 15 years that goes for seven days and six nights at Manjedal Activity Centre, Karrakup. The camp is filled with many great activities and adventures as well as the opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Leaders, Rovers, Venturers and adult helpers can volunteer to help at the camp with a range of roles available. Head on over to our Facebook page or web address to find out more information. To attend the camp, you must be a registered member of Scouts WA. Attendance is subject to approval from your section Leader, and youth members must have camped for a minimum of 4 nights under canvas (with 2 of these nights being consecutive). Registrations close 5pm, Friday 4th August 2017. Scout Troop youth - $480 Leaders, Venturers, Rovers, adult helpers - $280 Everything is included in the cost for the youth members including all accommodation, meals and participation in activities of your choice. Troop Leaders and Assistant Troop Leaders will eat and sleep on the line in tents, all other volunteers will be sleeping in dormitory accommodation and will eat at the Youth Centre. Venturers will camp in tents on their own campsite but eat at the Youth Centre. Our adult volunteers are able to choose from a range of roles: Troop Leader Assistant Troop Leader (doing any one of the following: Troop Quartermaster, Troop Health & Welfare, Troop Activities) Activities (operations) Activities (logistics) Logistics and Equipment Sites and Services Security and Safety Health and Welfare Administration Catering Food Procurement and Distribution Risk Management When registering please nominate 3 roles, in order of preference, that you would like to help with at Campwest. All youth members, Leaders, Venturers and Rovers attending the camp must be registered members of Scouts WA. Adult helpers must have a valid WWC card and be involved with the Scout Group that they are attending with. Youth must be within 11 years to 15 years of age, with linking Cubs aged 10.5 years+ able to attend with their Cub Leader's approval. Youth must also have camped under canvas for a minimum of 4 days, with 2 of these days being consecutive.
