Roadrunner Instructional Baseball League and Little League Baseball Teams The instructional league is the next step for 8-12 year old boys and girls following Roadrunner Tball Smash. Children may choose Tball Smash or Instructional league depending on their interest and skill level. Ideally children will have the concept of how the game works and be able to throw the ball 10-15 metres and catch the ball thrown to them. The league will feature optional training for all players on Wednesday nights and parent pitch games on Friday nights. The games will feature 4 Roadrunner teams and focus on playing “real” games of baseball with modified rules and coaching as the games take place. Roadrunner Little League Team For the first time ever, we will be entering in a team in Baseball Victoria’s Minor Little Leauge competition. Players need to nominate whether they want to be considered for this team. Twelve players will be chosen by our coaching staff based on performance and skill level demonstrated in the training sessions leading up to the start of the season. Details of this program include: •Training for those wishing to be considered for the Roadrunner Little League team will commence on Wednesday, September 27th, 530pm – 7pm, and will continue throughout the season on Wednesday nights. •Home and away games with other clubs on Sunday mornings (most likely 9am game time start) against other clubs in our charter; •Our charter consists of Preston, Essendon, Fitzroy, Newport, Werribee (and maybe Doncaster) Baseball Clubs. The good news is that for the far west clubs, it’s typically a 30 minute drive via the Western Ring Road on a Sunday morning – no different than trying to get to Doncaster shopping centre on a Saturday afternoon! J •Proper baseball rules – the children will be pitching and hitting according to the proper baseball rules. •Length of the season will be similar to the Instructional League. TAFC has gained accreditation to run ALDI MiniRoos in 2017. ALDI MiniRoos is designed for kids of all abilities, aged 4 – 11 years, the nation-wide initiative uses short, game-based sessions to introduce the sport of football to newcomers in an inclusive way. It focuses on learning new skills, being active, making life-long friends and, potentially, unearthing the next generation of Socceroos or Matildas. Our Kick-Off Also allows Parents time enjoy a coffee with your friends in the club rooms or be part of the ALDI MiniRoos action with your son or daughter on the pitch. This is a class that teaches performance skills. Every student is placed in a scene, (or possibly two scenes), which they rehearse throughout class time. This is done under expert guidance, and the teacher directs the scene for you. After the initial classes, there is a short performance season in THE MELBOURNE COMEDY FESTIVAL. We enter the festival as a Recreational Group of Performers, so no prior experience is required. However, this course is also suitable for those who do have some prior experience. It is possible that students could start this course a couple of weeks late, pending availability of spaces. However, this is a very popular program and usually fills. This class is open to those 18 and over who wish to simply have fun while learning drama. There are no expectations to reach a certain standard of acting and the class is open to beginners. Drama Classes benefit recreational students in the following ways - Provides a safe, nurturing environment to explore one's creativity - Offers an insight into what professional actors do. (For those who are interested) - Provides a space to meet with like-minded people and make new friends. - Offers great skills for anyone who needs to do upfront presentation as part of their work. - Provides one of the best forms of stress release available for adults! - Gives you a weekly opportunity to have loads of fun without expected outcomes. Students will learn - Improvisation (coming up with ideas on your feet, along with others) - Voice work (will naturally be incorporated into the class, without being a formal aspect) - Movement - not dance, but movement in terms of character movement - Script work. Later in the term/year, students will work on short scenes together. There is no pressure to learn these scenes- it's entirely up to you! - Increases confidence and self-esteem for shyer course participants. - Offers a free environment for outgoing personalities. - A starting point for anyone thinking about taking acting further at a later stage. Students in this class have the benefit of being taught by a veteran actors of stage, screen and TV, who is also an experienced acting teacher. He teaches in a gentle, safe manner that is ideal for anyone who needs to experience greater confidence. HIs valuable insights into acting are also great for those who are thinking about taking acting more seriously at a later stage. This is an ADULT Class for people aged 18 and over. This is a class runs every Wednesday in Kew from 4pm - 6pm. during term time. In Term 4 the children will also take part in a low-key performance for friends and family. Students will learn the skills of drama in a fun, nurturing, supportive environment. Subjects will include - Improvisation Voice work Character work Movement - (not dance as such, but in terms of how characters move) Script work Self-devised scripted work Some filming Playmaking The teacher has an extensive background in theatre and is also a fully qualified primary school teacher. Time: 4pm - 6pm There really is no booking deadline as such, as these are ongoing weekly classes that are held during term times. You can join at any time during the term and we will pro-rata your fee. The fee varies according to the length of the school term. Once fees are paid there are no refunds regardless of the circumstances. This is a weekly drama class for teenagers aged 12- 17. It takes place in Kew on Thursdays from 5.15pm - 7.15pm during term time. Students will be performing a play this term. The subjects that are covered in this course include: Voice Movement (Not dance as such, but movement for characters) Character work Improvisation Script work Some script devising Devising stories and short plays based on a theme. Pending space availability, it may be possible to take students later in the term, however early booking is advised.
