We recognise that very few like to be a beginner at anything, so we will do our best to have you enjoy the classes and get training that is appropriate for your body conditioning. Open to men, women and teens, the course introduces you to Aikido by teaching basic techniques and practical self-defence. Little Kaleidoscope Table are running fun and interactive cooking and gardening workshops in the October school holidays suitable for children aged 7 to 12 years of age. When: Wednesday 3rd October, 10:00 am – 12:30 pm Thursday 4th October, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm Where: Maylands Yacht Club, East St, Maylands Cost: $55.00 per child The workshops are run by a qualified Nutritionist who has over 10 years’ experience in nutrition education and is passionate about teaching children how to cook healthy food in a fun way whilst instilling good eating habits. Healthy eating habits learnt early in life are likely to last a lifetime. Each child will prepare, cook and enjoy two recipes and pot up a herb plant to take home. Children will learn how to flavour their recipe using herbs and spices (rather than salt and sugar). All recipes cooked will be enjoyed together as a group. Children will receive recipe cards to take home so they can cook the recipes again for themselves and their families! Children must wear closed in shoes and tie long hair back. The Leap into Literacy holiday program is for students in Years K–6 who want to create their own written masterpiece, all while learning the important aspects of writing. The Create Your Own Book or Short Story holiday program will run from October 2–4 and October 9–11 in Balmain, Drummoyne and Willoughby. Using techniques that allow students to become creative in the learning process, sessions are fun and achieve maximum results. The cost is $60 for two hours, which includes materials and one-on-one feedback from the teacher on their writing, as well as detailed instructions on important writing techniques and help with spelling, grammar, etc. Classes are for Years K-2 and Years 3-6 and are limited to seven students. The Wollongong-Illawarra Choir / Vocal Ensemble runs weekly in West Wollongong every Thursday night 7:30pm-8:30pm – within each NSW school term. It is open to anyone, ages 17 and up. Any level of experience is welcome. It is only $10 for your first visit, and only $5 thereafter billed for the remainder of the current term (1 to 11 weeks).
