Will learning Rhee Tae Kwon Do make my child a bully?
Over the years I have been approached by many parents who were initially reluctant or hesitant to enrol their children into Rhee Tae Kwon Do. This often stems out of concern that Martial Arts training may encourage their children to be more aggressive, or parents worried that their children will "pick fights", have a combative attitude towards others or simply become "bullies".

Rhee Tae Kwon Do teaches all students to obey their instructors; to develop self-discipline and perseverance; to be modest, courteous and respectful to all senior members (in age and status, inside and outside of the dojang); to put the Art into use only for self-defence and the defence of the weak; to never show off their martial arts knowledge; to be a good citizen by abiding with all the governing laws and being honourable in their dealings with everybody.

These foundations which are part of our pledge and teaching philosophy, ensure that all our students will develop a strong moral compass and will only put the Art of Self-Defence to use when absolutely necessary.

Through regular training and constant practice, Rhee Tae Kwon Do students will develop self-confidence in their abilities and in being able to stand-up to all kinds of bullies, and to stand-up for their rights and the rights of those who are weak. This is what true courage is. This is empowerment!
