Advanced Public Speaking Workshop

The ability to capture an audience’s attention, hold their focus and keep them engaged is an admirable skill in a young person.
Whether you’re a school leader, representing your school at an event, or preparing for an English oral assessment, you need to hone your presentation and speaking skills. From speaking clearly to structuring a strong argument, this workshop will challenge you to step your public speaking skills up a notch and deliver a speech with impact. Most importantly, learn strategies for impromptu speaking so that when it comes to speaking on the spot, you’re ready to get your game on.
Parents, this workshop is ideal for students who are ready to extend their impromptu speaking skills, learn a variety of ways to structure a speech, and discover new ways to maintain audience engagement. Special focus will be given to clarity of speech, volume and vocal dynamics. This workshop is recommended for senior students in weekly Voice and Acting™ classes, especially those preparing for Grade 4 and above AMEB or Trinity Exams.
Public Speaking Essentials Workshop

PUBLIC SPEAKING ESSENTIALS
Year 3 -6
If you’re aiming for school captain, want to be colour house leader, or want to represent your school in the regional public speaking competition, this is a workshop you don’t want to miss.
You’ll learn techniques for presenting with structure, style confidence, so that your audience are hooked from start to finish. Discover ways to engage the audience, learn about the different styles of speeches, and how you can use gesture to enhance what you’re saying.
If you’re an old hand at public speaking, our tutors will challenge you to extend your existing skills so that you stay front of the pack.
Parents, your child will learn the essentials of public speaking from structuring a speech, posture, eye contact, using palm cards and vocal expression. Specific attention will be paid to ensuring adequate volume and energy are being used when presenting. This workshop is recommended for students looking to join our signature Voice and Acting™ classes and aims to extend the skills of existing Voice and Acting™ students.
Holiday Drama Workshop

From Peppa Pig to Spiderman, every kid has their favourite cartoon. These holidays we’re bringing your favourite characters from the page to the stage in our three-day “Cartoon Chaos” workshop!
Join us for a storytelling adventure as we imagine what Curious George would say to Dora the Explorer, where they’d travel to, and what they’d do if they encountered trouble.
Come dressed as your favourite cartoon character or help us make props and costumes during the workshop.
Parents, your child will be engaged in drama activities including mime, improvisation, character creation, play building and scene sharing. These activities inspire young minds to think outside the box, stand on their own two feet and communicate clearly to an audience. Students work within their age groups with our specialist drama tutors. Viva’s drama workshops are the perfect place for an enthusiastic, rising star, but also a welcome atmosphere for newbies who are keen to build their self-confidence.
