    Kids at the Con: January School holiday workshops 2019

    Engage your child in the wonderful world of music with our fun and interactive holiday workshops! Presented by the Open Academy at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, our structured holiday workshops are based on the Orff-Schulwerk approach, Dalcroze and Kodaly educational methods. Participants will explore the musical concepts of pitch, beat and tempo through fun activities and creative play. No prior musical experience is required. The workshops are a great way to experience what our popular weekly programs are like. In one-hour workshops, our youngest students aged 3 to 5 will engage their listening and motor skills through echo singing, movement, imitation, playing percussion instruments, and musical games. In a half-day workshop, our older students aged 6 to 10 will engage in pitch and rhythm work using tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments, active listening activities, and have the opportunity to make their own instruments! Class dates, times and prices vary for different age groups. Please note that each workshop is designed as a one-off session, and material will be repeated the following session.
